Originally from Chicago, Lyle Sauer is an interdisciplinary storyteller and music educator based in London. A skilled actor, musician, playwright, and director, Lyle brings imagination, empathy, and curiosity to all their projects. A graduate of Rose Bruford's Actor Musicianship programme, Lyle plays the drums, mandolin, banjo, bass, and guitar, as well as singing.
As an actor, Lyle has worked across stage and screen since the age of 14, gaining valuable experience in both mediums. They bring this depth of experience to their roles and storytelling.
Passionate about music and drama as healing tools and vehicles for self-confidence and expression, Lyle also has a background as a SEN teaching assistant and care worker. At the age of 18, they collaborated with engineers to create accessible multi-sensory instruments, which were donated to the music department of a special education school.
As a musician, Lyle has worked as a pit percussionist, played in bands, and enjoys composing and writing their own music. With three years of experience teaching both group and individual drum lessons to all ages around London, Lyle is dedicated to fostering creativity and a love of music in their students.
As a director, Lyle has worked on devised pieces, actor-musician productions, song cycles, and a one-man show. They have contributed to Directors Cut Theatre at Southwark Playhouse and served as an assistant director at Rose Bruford College.
As a playwright, Lyle is developing their first work as part of the Royal Court's Introduction to Playwriting programme. They look forward to bringing their passion for music and drama, as well as their commitment to inclusive education, to their work at the conservatoire.
