Ruxandra Huma
Ruxandra's love of music and the piano began to flourish in Iasi, Romania. During her formative years, Ruxandra won numerous awards at competitions and festivals, both nationally and internationally, including the: George Georgescu International Competition, Carl Czerny International Competition and Bach National Piano Competition.
Having moved to the UK at the age of fourteen, she continued her musical education at the Peter Symonds College in Winchester, studying piano on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course. She then went on to achieve a BMus and MMus in piano performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance respectively.
Ruxandra has performed extensively in her native Romania as well as across Britain. She has played in prestigious venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre, Turner Sims Hall, Wyastone Concert Hall, Cadogan Hall and St. Martin in the Fields. Recent performances include the Mozart double piano concerto which was performed in in Bonn, Germany, and upcoming performances include the premiere of a new piano concerto written by Romanian composer, Calin Huma, as well as Enescu’s second Rhapsody arranged for 2 pianos.
Ruxandra also passionately believes that music has the power to change lives and she has a deep commitment to education and to the development of budding musicians of all ages. She has over twelve years’ experience of teaching beginners-advanced and she encourages a holistic approach encompassing performance technique, musicianship and music theory.
