Upcycle with the Borrowers (6-12 yrs)
Tuesday 27th May, 09.30 - 16.30 (£78)
Have you ever imagined what life would be like if you shrank down to a tiny 6cm high? What would your world look like and how could you ‘borrow’ everyday things from the big world around you to survive and thrive in your miniature world. Taking inspiration from the classic 1952 novel ‘The Borrowers’ by Mary Norton, we will make our own tiny (and very secret) scenes, while listening to a chapter of this magical book. Will you make a cosy living room of sponge sofas and rag rugs or perhaps a welcoming kitchen of matchstick chairs and bottle cap sinks? This workshop is designed for children aged 6–12 and places emphasis on found materials. Students are encouraged to bring in anything they think might be useful or thought provoking that they might otherwise have thrown away.

You will learn to use a variety of techniques including sculpting from plasticine, collage and drawing to construct your tiny fantasy world. Afterwards, we'll even make a tiny book to go with it illustrating the key parts of the story we have been inspired by.

Modelbox Storytelling (4-7 yrs)
Wednesday 28th May, 14.00 - 17.00 (£39)
In this workshop we will create a whole Wonderland world within a box. Inspired by old-fashioned printers trays, we will use different sections of our box to display all the magic and mystery of Alice's world. Using different creative effects we will create our own trail of trinkets to lead us through the story. How will we create the White Rabbit's pocketwatch, the Cheshire Cat's smile, and the Queen of Hearts' crown? We'll make different backdrops and models to tell the story. This class is part of our brand-new offering of longer classes for 4–7 year olds! Come along for three hours of arts, crafts, and fun. Please note this is a drop-off class.

The Mad Hatter's Collage & Textiles Party (5-11 yrs)
Thursday 29th May (£78)
Create beautiful textile collages inspired by the fantasy world of Alice in Wonderland! We'll follow the White Rabbit and Alice down the rabbit hole and recreate their magical world. We'll take special inspiration from the Mad Hatter's tea party scene, and also the art of visual storyteller Malgorzata Mirga Tas who uses textiles to create vibrant images. You will draw and paint using fineliners and watercolour, inspired by the original illustrations, characters, events, and food at The Mad Hatter's tea party. Don't forget the Dormouse asleep in the teapot! Alongside your collages you'll create; a tote bag to carry on your adventures with Alice; a recycled fabric key ring using knotting, scrap fabric and beads (will the key open the door to the beautiful garden Alice finds?); and a scrap notebook to journal your journey through the looking glass and into Wonderland.
