Conservatoire tutor Micah Baker and Lewis Chinn are CYMBIOSIS. Bringing tuba and percussion together; the duo creates an entirely organic performance of their own compositions and arrangements. No musical style is off limits for the duo, who relish immersing themselves in all genres. The duo pride themselves on staying authentic to their deep-rooted musical passions, whilst embracing new and unexplored ground. Their sets are filled with grooves and melodies from Jazz, Folksong, Latin, Afrobeats, Pop and contemporary classical sources. It is not only the unusual instrumentation and extraordinarily varied programmes that makes this project so intriguing, but Micah and Lewis’ infectious curiosity and energising approach to all music. Their debut performance at Kings Place won them Trinity Laban’s Gold Medal Award Showcase and Audience Prize, 2023. They have since performed around London; from cathedrals to cafés, the duo have connected with audiences in a variety of spaces. Last Autumn, CYMBIOSIS spent a week in Switzerland, sharing their music around the country. They released their first EP of original music in Spring 2025.
All ages are welcome, including babies and children. Entry is free and there is an optional retiring collection at the end - all donations go directly to the performers.
