Monet’s Gardens & Pine Cone Creatures (5-11 yrs)

Come along to the Conservatoire for a full day of fun arts and crafts. In this class you will take your inspiration from the nature-filled works of Claude Monet. You will paint your own watercolour, inspired by his famous water lilies. You'll create a miniature spring garden (complete with a pond!) in a box, using upcycled materials - you can include your favourite birds, flowers, and even frogs. You'll also create your very own nature diary to keep your drawings and collages in - and finally, you'll create your own pinecone rabbit from real pine cones!

Hopping Rabbits & Cute Chicks (3-5 yrs)
Monday 7th April, 09.30 - 11.30 (£24)
In this class we will do some puppet making, creating our favourite Easter animals! We will make finger puppet rabbits out of tubes, giving them some long ears and some tickly whiskers too. We’ll also make a chick glove puppet, as well as a magnificent puppet show backdrop, so you can put on your own Easter performance!

Put All Your Eggs in One Basket (3-5 yrs)
Monday 7th April, 12.30 - 14.30 (£24)
It's time for some Easter Eggs! Don’t you love all the brightly coloured patterns on eggs in the shop windows? We will decorate some styrofoam egg tiles, and then use them to print lots of eggs in a basket. We will decorate our egg shapes using different techniques - rubbings, painting, scraping and colouring. We'll even make an Easter basket in case we find any real eggs over Easter time, and an Easter card to send to someone special!

Mixed Media & Printing: Spring Landscapes (5-11 yrs)
Tuesday 8th April, 09.30 - 16.30 (£76)
Explore two different mediums with your tutor Florence. Spend the morning making mixed media collages to create a Spring Landscape inspired by David Hockney. In the afternoon learn a print technique called mono painting, and use photocopies of the work created in the morning to create mono paintings. You will end the day having practiced two new creative skills and with two developed pieces of art to show for your hard work!

Let’s Make a Recycled Bird Feeder (3-5 yrs)
Tuesday 8th April, 09.30 - 11.30 (£24)
The birds still need feeding as it’s not summer just yet... and we need to help them! In this class we will make our very own bird feeders out of natural materials like apples, seeds, and willow. You can take them home to your garden or your windowsill and see which little birds visit! We will also create one out of recycled materials, which we can decorate to look like a little house for the birds.

Clay Creatures (3-5 yrs)

There is lots of new life around at the moment, and lots of animal babies are born in the spring. In this art class, we’ll begin by drawing animals using chalks, and move on to making them out of clay and other natural materials, including sticks, stones, feathers, wool and raffia. Something is Sprouting! (4-7 yrs)
Tuesday 8th April, 15.00 - 17.00 (£24)
Spring has sprung, and beautiful bulbs and buds begin to sprout. Blossom is one of the first things to bloom and shows us that spring is on the way. We will make our own paintings based on classical Chinese painting. Using paint and ink we will copy techniques of Chinese brush painting and do some printmaking to create an image of a decorative vase of blossoms.

Teen Clay Club (12-15 yrs)
Tuesday 8th April, 17.30 - 20.30 (£64)
Join us for Clay Club! Suitable for both beginners to clay and those who want to develop their skills. In this evening workshop you will be free to create your own ceramic ideas under the guidance of an experienced ceramic tutor. Students will create one or two pieces using pinch pots and coiling, decorating with texture and coloured slips. Pieces will be glazed and fired and ready to collect approximately a month after the workshop.

Seashell Découpage (6-12 yrs)

It may not be beach weather *just* yet, but perhaps you have been on some blustery spring seaside walks over this holiday? In this class we will turn our favourite seashore souvenirs into gorgeous keepsakes. Using colourful papers and designs of your choosing, we'll turn found oyster and scallop shells into works of art, perfect for gifting or storing your trinkets in. We'll also be studying and interpreting the famous pastel artwork by Odilon Redon, 'Le Coquille' (The Seashell).

Make Your Own Fabergé Easter Egg (6-12 yrs)

There are 57 jeweled eggs left in the world, made by the famous Russian 'House of Fabergé'. These Fabergé eggs are exquisitely jeweled and highly decorative egg-shaped ornaments, and are worth millions of pounds today. In this class we'll be re-creating our own versions using gilding, beads, foils, sequins and glitter. You'll want to treasure them forever!

Dreamy Daffodils & Homemade Hyacinths (3-5 yrs)

We will use a variety of techniques to make pictures of daffodils and grape hyacinths which both appear at this time of year and herald the arrival of Spring. Playful Printing (5-11 yrs)

Inspired by the bold and colourful work of the artist Tal R, we will use the process of monoprinting to create beautiful pictures inspired by his paintings and drawings. Using various printing techniques, we will learn new processes and witness the playful and surprising effects printmaking can offer! Learn to be bold with your drawings, filling the spaces of the paper with the shapes and colours of spring.

Make Your Own Bird’s Nest (5-11 yrs)

Spring is springing and the birds are singing! In this all-day art class we will be making our very own beautiful bird's nests, complete with little eggs. We will even make a mother bird to sit near by or on our nests! Is your nest going to be for a Robin? Or a Blue Tit? Or maybe a Blackbird? We will create our nests using natural materials, like hay, clay, moss, twigs, leaves, and dry flowers. Maybe we will even put a few feathers in there! Your finished nest will make a perfect display piece for an Easter table, or to sit on your windowsill at home.

Fantastic Beasts and How to Draw Them (6-12 yrs)

Create your own fantasy beasts to reflect yourself! Be inspired by mythical beasts created by artists across the ages, and learn how to make your own. We will focus on mark making, line, and pattern, supported by fun exercises to help spark the imagination and explore drawing techniques. Do you have a favourite mythical creature, perhaps in a book, or film? Feel free to bring an image along to share with the group (this is entirely optional).

Make a Felt Bunny Basket (6-12 yrs)

This Easter holiday you can come along to the Conservatoire to create your very own Easter basket. Using hand embroidery techniques and applique, you will decorate your beautiful basket ready to collect some Easter Eggs. You will also decorate a tiny stuffed chick or bunny to pop in your basket! This class is a perfect to start your textile journey - come along if you love making with lovely soft materials.
