Our Teachers

William Baulch

William Baulch started playing the guitar around 1960, at first playing pop music. In 1963 he fell in love with the classical guitar. He began teaching at almost the same time, to pay for his own lessons. He has taught at the Conservatoire since 1968, and regards it as his second home.

If William were stranded on a desert island, he would like to have with him:
Segovia playing Sonata by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco
Mozart Mass in C minor
Elvis Presley singing I Forgot to Remember to Forget

"After 44 years teaching the guitar at the Conservatoire, it is my second home and many of my friends live there too and my pupils come to visit me every week. Is there a nicer way to make a living?"
