Our Teachers

Gianni Bruno

Gianni started playing the trumpet at the age of 10 and at the age of 16 he was awareded a DfES scholarship to study at the world renowned Wells Cathedral School. Gianni has performed for BBC radio 2 and toured China with the Wells Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra on Principal Trumpet. In his final year at Wells, Gianni was awarded the Nathan Hewitt Trumpet Award.

Gianni went on to pursue his studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Highlights include performing David Watkin’s Introit for two trumpets with the Trinity Laban String Ensemble and Britten’s Young Person’s Guide on Principal Trumpet for Ursula Jones’s 80th birthday celebration. Other highlights include winning the Phillip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition with his quintet Centurion Brass.

As an Orchestral trumpet player Gianni has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and as Principal Trumpet with the World Youth Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Gianni has performed Elgar Howarth’s Pictures at an Exhibition for John Wallace’s 65th Birthday Celebration at Queen Elizabeth Hall and has also featured with Roger Argente’s Superbrass.

Aside from orchestral and chamber music, Gianni has recorded soundtracks for the Ribena advert and a short film showcased at the Sundance Film Festival.

Gianni has recently finished his studies for his Master’s Degree at the Royal College of Music, which was generously supported by a Michael Quinn Award.
