Our Teachers

Elizabeth Marr

Elizabeth Marr is a freelance flautist and teacher, born and brought up in Aberdeen, currently based in London. She began her studies at the North East of Scotland Music School receiving flute lessons from Catherine O’Rourke and David Nicholson. Elizabeth graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree of Music from Trinity Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London studying flute with Anna Noakes, Margaret Campbell and Julian Coward and piccolo with Alan Baker; and has recently completed her Masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague studying with Thies Roorda and Dorine Schade (piccolo).

Recently Elizabeth has been placed on the extra list for Principal Flute with the Birmingham Royal Ballet Orchestra. She has performed in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague Symphony Orchestra alongside the Residentie Orchestra for the Reinbert Festival, toured Italy with the International Opera Theatre company premiering the opera Camille Claudel, been a member of The Netherlands Flute Academy (Neflac) flute ensemble and played with Camerata Scotland performing and leading workshops around Scotland. She has also taken part in the Thies Roorda Summer School 2013 in Buonoconvento, the Neflac Flute Winter Academy 2013, the Wil Offermans Summer Flute Course 2011, the British Flute Society/Trinity College flute festival and many masterclasses including with Emily Beynon, Paul-Emmanuel Davies, Susan Milan, Wissam Boustany and Jonathan Snowden.

Elizabeth is a fun and enthusiastic teacher, and currently a tutor for the Merton Music Foundation alongside her teaching at the Conservatoire.
