Chris Roe

Chris Roe is an award-winning composer, conductor and pianist based in London, working on projects ranging from independent shorts and feature films, to advertising campaigns.  Chris’ music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, performed worldwide, and he was recently nominated for a BASCA British Composer Award for his orchestral piece ‘In Search of Strategy’. As a conductor and arranger, he recently worked with the RPO in an advertising campaign for Cancer Research.

With a diverse musical background as a pianist and string player, Chris studied at Manchester University, and subsequently studied on the Masters in Composition course at the Royal College of Music. Chris also plays in several jazz/funk groups and studied electronic music in Paris. Chris is also founder and conductor of ANIMA, a group of eight musicians specialising combining live music with film in unusual venues, such as 42 feet below the Thames in the Brunel Tunnel!

As a teacher, Chris has held positions at Sevenoaks School and Wellington College as Piano/Composition teacher and staff accompanist.

"He loves working at The Conservatoire because of the enthusiasm of the students and the friendly atmosphere. He also gets to try out lots of new arrangements (mostly of film/tv themes) with his Saturday Sinfonia group, which is a lot of fun!"
