Our Teachers

Anna Ter Haar

Anna Ter Haar is a freelance flautist and teacher based in London. She studied at TrinityLaban Conservatoire where she was awarded her Masters degree, as well as a First Class Honours undergraduate degree, and the LTCL Teaching Diploma. Her studies were generously supported by the Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship Scholarship, and The Musician’s Benevolent Fund Postgraduate Award. Anna was fortunate to benefit from the tuition of Wissam Boustany, Emer McDonough, Anna Noakes, Margaret Campbell and Alan Baker, as well as the mentorship of Ileana Ruhemann during her 5 years at Trinity.
Anna has performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the National Concert Orchestra of Great Britain, Southern-Pro Musica, the Docklands Sinfonia as well as various Orchestras and ensembles during her time at Trinity. She has also recorded for BBC radio 2 and 3.
As a soloist Anna has performed the Poulenc Flute Concerto (arr. Berkley), J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4. and also ‘Adagio’ from Haydn’s Symphony No. 24 during the Greenwich International Early Music Festival. She has toured across much of Europe and, in her final year at Trinity, was selected as part of a Wind Trio to represent Trinity on their annual tour to the Kunitachi Wind Academy in Tokyo, Japan. She is a passionate chamber musician, and is currently on the prestigious Live Music Now scheme with her duo partner, guitarist Toby Carr, with whom she has also performed at the Purcell Room as part of the ‘Tomorrow People’ series.
Anna is an enthusiastic and devoted teacher, and currently teaches flute at Pimlico Academy, Ipswich School, and the Royal Hospital School.
