Our Teachers

Amanda Douge

Amanda Douge started her music career as one of The Vonn Trap children in a professional stage production of The Sound of Music aged 8. She studied both piano and classical singing, turning down a place to study opera at the Victorian College of The Arts to focus instead on acting and stage performance. She has performed in Les Miserables, Anything Goes, Pippin, Chicago and many children's theatre productions. She has also taught drama and music to children at different points throughout her career.

Amanda was awarded the Queens Trust of Australia Award for the achievement of Excellence in the Arts as well as an Australian Film Institute Award for best-supporting actress in the film That Eye the Sky. She has worked in the theatre, film and television in Europe, the U.S, Oz and the UK.

It was after 18 months of participating in the Early Years Music program with her daughter that Amanda joined the department as a teacher. She is as inspired by the children she now teaches as she was by watching her daughter grow and flourish at the Conservatoire.

"For me, music is the beginning of so much of our shared humanity; language, emotion, joy, passion, rhythm, poetry, celebration, connection and togetherness. So much begins with music. It is inspiring to help and watch little ones and their parents start this lifelong journey together"
